What is Global Warming?
During the last couple of thousand years, the Earth’s temperature has been fairly stable. However, human activity has started to influence Earth’s climate in the past century.
Greenhouse gases
Greenhouse gases are responsible for the current warming effect. These gases trap heat from the sun and release it into the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and water vapor.

The presence of these gases in the atmosphere has increased by a third since the Industrial Revolution. During this time, the average surface temperature of the planet has risen 1.1 degrees Celsius.
Effects of global warming: What is Global Warming?
The effects of global warming are affecting all of life on earth. These changes are increasing the frequency of heat waves, droughts, and floods. The warming of the seas is also increasing coastal erosion. The melting of polar sea ice and glaciers is also causing increased temperatures in the atmosphere.

Although humans are the primary contributors to the global warming, it is important to remember that natural causes still play a role. However, the rapid rate of warming in recent years is too unusual to be explained by natural causes alone.
During the past century, the rate of warming has doubled. Moreover, in the next century, Earth will warm between 2 and 6 degrees Celsius. This warming will change the patterns of weather, heat waves, droughts, floods and hurricanes. Some animals and plants will die, and others will migrate or spread diseases.
Human-caused global warming has been a major factor in increasing the frequency of weather events. It is also responsible for the movement of mosquitoes, which carry diseases.
