World Tallest Cut Christmas Tree
Downtown Christmas tree: The tallest Christmas tree in the world will be lit in Enid, Oklahoma. It will be 140 feet tall and will be decorated with 20,000 LED lights and 10,000 ornaments. The event will also feature holiday fireworks and live music. The event is free and open to the public.

The story of the world’s tallest Christmas tree began in 1948 when a small group of businessmen in Bellingham, Washington, got together and came up with the idea of building the tallest tree. The group, known as the Jaycees, announced their plan to build a tree on December 11, 1948. The group wanted to make a mark in the history books by establishing the record for the tallest Christmas tree.

The Northgate Company, which owned the mall, and the Bon Marche, the mall’s anchor tenant, sought to celebrate the opening of the new Northgate shopping centre in 1950 with an accomplishment that would establish Northgate as a landmark. In the American city of Phoenix, another city has a taller Christmas tree. The tree in Phoenix is 80-110 feet high and is larger than the tree in New York City. The city doesn’t have its own Rockettes, but the tree is still the tallest in the world.
